SIZILIEN RUNDREISE | Märchenträume im Val di Noto

23. Juni 2020 / Italien

Jetzt lesen

–ENGLISH VERSION BELOW–

Unterkunft & Restaurants in Noto

Warum gerade Noto?

–ENGLISH VERSION–

Val di Noto – the best part comes last

The rest of our parental leave we spent in the Val di Noto. The historic administrative unit in the southeast of Sicily is mainly known for its late Baroque cities, such as Noto and Ragusa. Therefore, they should be the crowning glory at the end of our -> Sicily tour. And this is precisely what happened! As already mentioned, we first wanted to get an overview of the island, then spend the rest of the time at our favorite place. And that was Noto.

Accommodation & Restaurants in Noto

Why Noto? Because this city simply combines everything in the smallest space. Culture, late Baroque flair and a beautiful beach about 6 km away from our accomodation, i.e. the -> Lido di Noto.

Not to mention the Neathon Rooms. An accommodation in the middle of the old town with a beautiful roof terrace – as made for us! In addition the cordiality! All in all, this time did not jump into the cultural details but we enjoyed the overall appearance of Noto. It is pure Dolce Vita to explore the late Baroque fairy tale with its alleys and facades of houses and to eat one gelato in one of the numerous ice cream parlors. For sure we will do the rest of the cultural program next time! Because we have certainly not been here for the last time! As far as cuisine is concerned, I can recommend the following three restaurants: Il Libertyno, the Trattoria del Carmine, about 100 meters from our hotel, as well as the restaurant Dammuso. Whether high-priced or not, in all three restaurants you eat very well!

Excursion to Ragusa & Ragusa Ibla

Ragusa Ibla – also in the Val di Noto – is at least as picturesque as Noto. Starting point of our trip was the beautiful park Giardino Ibleo with a fantastic fountain. There is a café in this park where I had eaten the most delicious lemon granita of my life!

Then of course the Duomo, who rises proudly, but by no means arrogantly over the main square of Ragusa Ibla. If you are lucky, you can even experience one of the pompous Sicilian weddings. On the square there is a pleasant bustle without any hassle. The prices in the cafes at the cathedral are more than fair, so it is pleasant to stay and spend some time there.

Marina de Regusa is a bit of a contrast to Ragusa Ibla in terms of culture. Nevertheless, it is also very nice! A beautiful lungomare with chic cafes and restaurants. If you are here during the 22 September don’t miss the ”Addio All’ Estate” party ending with big fireworks.

Scicli in Val di Noto

Due to the positive weather forecast we visited Scicli. While it was raining everywhere that day, the sun was shining in this part of the Val di Noto. Schicli also impresses with its late Baroque ensemble. According to me, special highlights of the Unesco city are the Piazza Italia with the cathedral San Ignazio, the boutique Scicli, in which I would have liked to take everything with me, as well as the Ummara restaurant, in which i had a delicious pasta and fish for dinner.
